I agree stealing is stealing but I am just sorta on the fence when it comes to sampling music - those bleeps though you could argue are an integral part of the tune, still are not the actual sounds that made it sell - more the artists and the overall composition of the tune is what made it popular and because of that I find it harder to see how those few beeps can become such an issue - compared to Vanilla Ice's rip of Under Pressure - now that was blatant and almost gave the tune more credence because the riff he used was very very well known in its own right etc. Sampling is just a grey area to me, I like reading - enjoyed the Da Vinci Code, read most of that book by the dudes who tried to sue (Teabing and Baegent - cant remember the book) and that basically was the premise on which DaVinci Code was founded - they lost the case - and that was more blatant to me than those bleeps in Timbalands tune (though I guess you could argue its similar - though the whole premise of the book was taken almost from the other, whereas the tune only took a small part possibly of another and recycled it into the new one, not basing the whole tune around it - like Vanilla Ice did actually do...)
I guess I dunno really after all that - can see both sides of it I guess...anyways it was a commodore 64 - he deserved to be ripped off - solely because I was a Spectrum boy and Commodore owners were teh enemy!!!

well even with sampling you're supposed to give credit and in this case it was more than a few bleeps but also "components of the song (chords/melody/rhythm) have been exactly reproduced" in Timberland's song.
Besides Timberland deserved a punch in the face for "I don't know him from a can of paint. I'm 15 years deep. That's how you attack a king? You attack moi? Come on, man. You got to come correct."
I had both a Speccy and a C64 - and still do albeit not my original ones

I actually dont mind Timbaland's tunes (though its more because they are catchy as opposed to his vocal talent - which he has none of) but I would love to punch Kanye in the face....several times... before tripping him up and then proceeding to breakdance all over him in an electric booglaloo stylie! But yeah Timbaland does come across as an idiot with that statement - got all billy big boots hasnt he...maybe he and Kanye should have a Celebrity Deathmatch..
