In 10 days time, I will start my next long distance hike. After discovering the National Trails a few years ago, http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/ I have felt the need to walk them. It started with Hadrians Wall, then the South Downs.

This year I will walk the land of Glyndwr and the Black Mountains. I hope I can avoid Mootang and King Smugluk, as I don't have much room for weaponry in my backpack!

Thanks for the advice mate. It isn't my first long distance hike so I have some experience in selecting what kit to bring, and I have a Ray Mears bushcraft training under the belt too

But 2 years ago when walking Hadrians Wall, we were pounded by heavy rains for 2 days straight and the membrane of my jacket, which was very expensive and very good, but 10 years old, was no longer able to keep out the water. I just hadn't realized these membranes can wear out, and arrived at the camp site like a drowned cat and cold to the bone with purple lips. It's not always a walk in the park :)

I would love to explore different lands as well, it's just that the national trails website is so good for planning purposes that so far I stuck to English walks

Have fun, looking forward to hearing your stories when you get back :)
